My favorite decoration....so far.

I made this decoration for my daughter's room a couple of months ago, and I love it! It's super easy and you can customize it to any room and holiday.
My daughter's room is all about color and all you need for this project is:
2 Styrofoam balls- I did two different sizes and put the smaller one on top.
1 dowel- doesn't matter what size. I think mine is 1/4 inch in diameter.
A tin can or two of paper flowers. You can get these at Michael's in the embellishment section.
Buttons and push pins. I used magenta and teal for the push pins.
And then you just need a flower pot, I painted mine, some newspaper, a hot glue gun, and some colored rocks.

So to make this super easy project, start by priming and spray painting your flower pot. Depending on how long your dowel is, you might need to cut it. I cut a foot off of mine, so it was about 2 feet long when I was done. I then spray painted that too.
While those are drying, figure out what kind of flowers you want to use. I bought the tin that had all different colors in it. Also- all the flowers are different kinds! You might even get lucky and get some that are polka-dotted!

Once your dowel is dry, take your bigger styrofoam ball and shove your dowel through it. Then take your smaller styrofoam ball and do the same thing, only don't let the dowel go all the way though. **Make sure you do this before you put the flowers on, that way you don't risk messing up some flowers!**
So, now just start taking your flowers, you can over lap two colors, one with a smaller one, and then put a colored button in the middle of the flower and use two push pins to get them to stick to the ball. Just repeat this step until the whole ball is covered in flowers!
When both styrofoam balls are covered, just glue the dowel to the bottom of the flower pot and surround it with alot of crumpled newspaper. Then to cover the newspaper, use the rocks I mentioned.

The finished project is super cute!  I also spray painted a gold webbing over the pot. Enjoy!

Chickenwire does wonders!

Last week, a friend was looking for some chicken wire and I just happened to have some. Hey- when you have a Toy Pomeranian that can escape through any hole in the fence, chicken wire is the only thing that keeps him in. Anyways, she was making a thing to hold hair clips for her girls and I thought it was an awesome idea. She used an 11*13 frame, but I have alot of bows and clips for my little one so I wanted something bigger. I decided to use a bulletin board. Not the big huge ones, but it was an 14*24 and it was the perfect size! All I did was spray paint the outer edge the color I wanted, which was dark purple, staple some fabric down on the cork part and stapled chicken wire over the fabric. Take a look!
I ended up stapling a ribbon to the back so I could hang it up in her bathroom.
And here it is with some bows!
I love it! And there is plenty of room for more bows! I think I feel another project coming on! :)

Craftroom!

So, I have a skilled, thoughtful, AWESOME husband! After I had my daughter 3 years ago, I started getting into scrapbooking, sewing, and other crafts. Well, needless to say, I was running out of room on where to put my stuff and it wasn't organized at all! In stepped Superman, I mean, Ryan, and made some things to help with all of that! Take a look!

So, a craft store was going out of business here, and my husband helped them clear out the building. Most of the shelving and all that was going to the dump, but he snagged this for me. A table they use to cut fabric on! I will admit, at first I didn't want it at all. I tried to convince him to throw it away, but now I couldn't imagine not having it in the room. I use it for everything! I keep all my fabric underneath the tables in totes because I don't have enough room.

So, I have a lot of paper and to help with that, Ryan made this awesome holder for all of it. Normally the bottom shelf (which Ryan made) would be standing upright on the floor, but the room was getting kinda crowded and I was getting sick of bending over to get paper out of the bottom shelf so he put it on top of the table. LOVE IT! The black shelf, we got at a furniture store that was going out of business, and my husband got it for $20! SCORE! (The stuff on top will be shown at a later date.)
Another thing we got to help organize things, were these shelves. Lifesavers! I have 5 of them total! The 4 shown here are filled with stamps and they are all in categories.
The other day my daughter and I sorted thru all the buttons I had and put them into jars by colors. I also put hair clips and flowers and some other things into jars.

I also have some, ok, A LOT of ribbon. Hey, I have a little girl, and I love making hair clips for her! So to hold all this ribbon, Ryan made these:

So, there you have it! Come back tomorrow to see what I'm going to do with a bulletin board, some chicken wire, and fabric! I'm pretty excited about it!
